baked on 8
The little seed that became my cottage bakery...

Is it really work if you love doing it? Was every meal my mom set before us really a labor of love or was it what was expected of her? I can tell you without blinking that my mom loved to feed her family. She may not have had all of the ingredients her heart desired to prepare magazine worthy meals but the love she poured into her pots and pans was evident in each delicious bite of what showed up on our plates. She came from a family with 18 children and she learned early on from her mom how to make a lot out of very little. Mom excelled at both cooking and baking, the likes of which you can only savor in the deep South of Illinois, and while I am still putting forth effort in the cooking department, I have confidence in my simple baking skills, enough to share with others. I hope you find yourself remembering my quip, "complete your plate with baked on 8" and delighting in the results of our generational baking.
